Compounds derived from bis(1-hydrocarbyloxy-2,2,6,6tetramethylpiperidin-4-yl)amine are effective stabilizers in preventing the degradation of polymers subject to the deleterious effects of actinic light. These compounds have the formula:, wherein, n is 1 to 4, R1 and R2 are independently alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms or together R1 and R2 are pentamethylene E is, for example, C1-C18 alkyl, T is a radical of valence n and when n = 1 then T is for, example H or C2-C20 alkanoyl, when n = 2 then T is for, example, -CO-, when n = 3 then T is for example, a triacyl, radical, and when n = 3 then T is for example, a tetravalent, acyl radical.

Why it's free to use
- Filed March 19, 1990 and granted January 25, 2000. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended March 19, 2010.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 19, 2012.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
