Abstract From the Canadian patent

A measuring sensor comprising a heating element and a temperature detecting element used to measure a temperature of the heating element are both held out of contact with each other (preferably by an electrically insulative but thermally good conductive material) within a protective tube. For fluid exhibiting slow changes in its state with passage of time the fluid, state is measured utilizing said sensor on the basis of a differential between temperatures prior to and during heating of the heating element. For fluid exhibiting rapid changes in its state with passage of time the measuring, sensor and a separate temperature detecting sensor are used to measure a temperature of the fluid. The …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed March 7, 1990 and granted April 4, 2000. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended March 7, 2010.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 7, 2012.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
