Abstract From the Canadian patent

The present invention is directed to a light transmitting yttria sintered body having good light transmission, which can be prepared by a method comprising the steps of densifying yttria powder having a purity of not lower than 99.9 % and a BET specific surface area of not smaller than 10 m2/g by a hot press at a temperature of 1300 to 1700°C under a pressure of 100 to 500 kg/cm2 under vacuum conditions so as to achieve the theoretical density ratio of not lower than 95 % and then hot isotropically pressing densified yttria at a temperature of 1400 to 1900°C under a pressure of not lower than 500 kg/cm2. The light transmitting yttria sintered body of the present invention is suitable for …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed March 1, 1990 and granted September 28, 1999. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended March 1, 2010.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 1, 2012.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
