A parallel distributed processing network previously, trained to simulate a process is responsive to input activations, A to produce outputs Y. The activations are representative of the input parameters P of the process and the outputs are representative of the characteristics C of the product of the process. A set of goal signals G corresponding to the desired physical characteristics D of the product are produced and used to generate a signal representative of the error E between the goal signals G and the outputs Y of the network. The values of the updated inputs AU of the network that ate needed to drive the error E to a predetermined minimum are determined and, the actual physical …

Why it's free to use
- Filed February 28, 1990 and granted March 13, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended February 28, 2010.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 28, 2012.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
