A railway car bogie has a bearing at the center of each of the front and rear axles and a pair of struts arranged in a V connected at one end to each bearing to define an imaginary center of rotation at or adjacent the center of the bearing and at the other end to the bogie frame. By mounting the axle boxes for lateral and longitudinal sliding movement relative to the axle springs around the imaginary center of rotation a railway car, mounted on the bogie exhibits greater stability for high speed straight running and easier passage around tight curves.

Why it's free to use
- Filed February 9, 1990 and granted June 7, 1994. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended February 9, 2010.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 9, 2012.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
