Abstract From the Canadian patent

This invention reveals steel alloys which are particularly suitable for use in manufacturing reinforcing wires for rubber products, such as tires. The steel filaments made by this process have an outstanding combination of strength and ductility. Additionally the steel alloys of this invention can be patented in a low cost process due to their having a very fast rate of isothermal transformation. This allows the steel in the steel wire being patented to transform from a face centered cubic microstructure to an essentially body centered cubic microstructure within a very short period. This invention more specifically discloses a steel alloy composition which is particularly suitable for use …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed February 6, 1990 and granted April 25, 2000. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended February 6, 2010.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 6, 2012.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
