Abstract From the Canadian patent

A tunnel current probe and an apparatus for measuring tunnel current and electrolytic processing current for a sample in solution. By adopting special materials for the tunnel probe exemplified by gold, a gold alloy, containing gold as the main component carbon and a carbon component, a wide, range of potential differences between the probe axed sample can be accommodated for the purpose of identifying substances deposited on the sample by virtue of their electrolytic potential while simultaneously obtaining an image of the surface of the sample undergoing electrochemical reaction.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed January 30, 1990 and granted December 7, 1999. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended January 30, 2010.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by January 30, 2012.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
