Abstract From the Canadian patent

Abstract of the Disclosure A vehicle anti-lock braking system is provided having an actuator frame with a bore fluidly connected to the wheel brake and to a master cylinder via n solenoid valve. A piston, mounted within the bore is operationally, associated with a non-rotative nut which is threadably engaged by a power screw. To maximize reaction speed a high efficiency, thread is utilized between the power screw and the non-rotative nut. Therefore, pressure within the actuator can back drive the piston. To prevent the backdriving of the piston there is a spring locking mechanism.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed January 22, 1990 and granted May 31, 1994. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended January 22, 2010.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by January 22, 2012.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
