Subgingival plaque samples can be analyzed for the presence of the trypsin substrate N-benzoyl-DL-arginine-2-naphthylamide (BANA) in order to make a clinical diagnosis of periodontal disease. The solid phase test utilizes enzyme sensitive reagents adsorbed separately onto two elements. The sample is added to one element, the second element contacted therewith and water is added to initiate the reaction. The resulting analysis is complete within thirty minutes. Why it's free to use
- Filed January 18, 1990 and granted September 15, 1998. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended January 18, 2010.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by January 18, 2012.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
