Abstract From the Canadian patent

An improved high speed data transfer bus with virtual memory capability is disclosed. The bus has particular applications in computer systems which employ peripheral devices. The bus allows high speed data transfer through the use of avirtual memory scheme. Moreover the present invention minimizes the number of lines required to implement the bus. The present invention also minimizes the amount of time a particular device is required to wait before it can access the bus andcomplete a data transfer. Moreover the present invention employs control signals that are driven both active and inactive facilitating interfacing the bus to low-power CMOS technology.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed January 12, 1990 and granted April 28, 1998. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended January 12, 2010.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by January 12, 2012.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
