Abstract From the Canadian patent

In a data processing system in which each of the data processing units is implemented using pipeline techniques and has a cache memory unit employing a store through strategy, the time required to prepare a write instruction operand address can be substantially shorter than the time required by the execution unit to prepare the associated write instruction operand. In order to utilize time difference, apparatus is included in the execution (E-)cache unit for storing the write instruction operand address during the preparation of the associated write instruction operand. After storing the write instruction operand address, a next address is entered in an input register of the E-cache unit. …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed January 4, 1990 and granted April 5, 1994. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended January 4, 2010.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by January 4, 2012.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
