Abstract From the Canadian patent

A galvannealed steel sheet having a superior spot weldability characteristic in which the steel sheet has a base steel sheet cold-rolled from a material containing 0.005 wt% or less of C, 0.005 to 0.05 wt% of Ti, 0.01 to 0.1 wt% of Al 0.005, to 0.015 wt% of Nb and 0.0002 to 0.002 wt% of B and a hot-dip galvannealed layer containing 9 to 12 wt% of Fe. In the process for making the galvannealed steel sheet a cold-rolled sheet is, (1) annealed, (2) rapidly cooled (3) dipped in a hot melt of, plating zinc having an Al content of 0.13 wt% or more to form a plating layer and (4) alloying heat-treated.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed December 28, 1989 and granted June 7, 1994. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended December 28, 2009.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 28, 2011.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
