Particle emitting radionuclides, e.g. Samarium-153 have been complexed with certain macrocyclic aminophosphonic acids wherein the nitrogen and phosphorus are interconnected by an alkylene group or substituted alkylene group. These complexes have been found useful in compositions and formulations for the therapeutic treatment of calcific tumors and the relief of bone pain in animals.

Why it's free to use
- Filed December 18, 1989 and granted January 5, 1999. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended December 18, 2009.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 18, 2011.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
