A sphingenine and derivatives thereof herein provided are represented by the following general formulas (I) and (II): (I), (II), in the formulas (I) and (II) R1 represents a hydrogen atom, an acetyl group or a methanesulfonyl group; R2 represents a hydrogen atom or an ethoxyethyl group; R3 represents an azido group an amino group, an, alkylamido group, an arylamido group an aralkylamido group or a, tetracosanamido group; R' represents a hydrogen atom or an ethoxyethyl group; and n is an integer ranging from 1 to 22.
