Abstract From the Canadian patent

This invention provides a method for producing germplasm of plant species exhibiting enhanced response to in vitro culture of male gametophytes. The method is used as a selection criterion for genes favoring in vitro androgenesis. After subjecting anthers to standard anther culture regeneration procedures the regenerated, plants are intermated and self-pollinated to generate valuable genetic variability for improved culture response. The transfer of increased male gametophyte culturability to other selected germplasm is also described. 37,427A-F

Why it's free to use

  • Filed December 1, 1989 and granted April 10, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended December 1, 2009.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 1, 2011.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
