This invention provides means for separating a fluid from contaminates comprising an outer shell which may be a pressure vessel having mounted within it an outer drum and an inner drum which rotate together creating centrifugal force on any fluids which are caused to flow through the apparatus, thereby causing separation according to density. A shelf mounted between the inner and outer drum creates, a shallow stream of heavier fluids capable of carrying contaminate particles such as sand. Means as provided to draw off contaminating fluids or solids such as water or sand from the mainstream such as oil.

Why it's free to use
- Filed November 24, 1989. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended November 24, 2009.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 24, 2011.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
