Abstract From the Canadian patent

An absorbent mattress cover consisting of at least two layers, the first layer, facing the mattress, being substantially impermeable to liquid while the second layer, lying thereon, is in the form of a liquid absorbent layer, the layer substantially impermeable to liquid being in the form of a foil highly permeable to water vapour.
