A magnetic seal for sealing a vehicle closure panel to a vehicle body covering an opening in the body therein is positioned between an engagement surface and a sealing surface on either the vehicle body or vehicle panel and a sealing surface on the other of the vehicle body or vehicle panel. A gap is defined between the closure panel and vehicle body when the closure panel is latched in a closed position by a latch mechanism. To bridge and seal the gap, a seal strip is mounted on the engagement surface and adapted to form an air tight water tight seal between the vehicle body and vehicle panel.
