An improved isomerization catalyst is formed by combining a Group VIII metal lead, a pentasil zeolite, and an inorganic oxide binder in a manner such that 80-100% of the Group VIII metal and 60-100% of the lead are contained on the binder. The resulting catalyst system is particularly useful in the isomerization of aromatic hydrocarbons and is particularly effective in a process for the conversion of ethylbenzene by dealkylation while simultaneously isomerizing xylenes where the process is to be performed without substantial loss of xylenes.

Why it's free to use
- Filed October 24, 1989 and granted October 15, 1996. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended October 24, 2009.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 24, 2011.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
