A cell having an explosion proof valve is disclosed in which the valve, is deformable upon increase of inner pressure of the cell to cut a connection lead, which connects the valve with a generator unit contained in the cell. The generator, unit is formed of an anode, a cathode a separator interposed between the , anode and the cathode, and electrolyte. The supply of charging current is cut off when the, inner pressure of the cell has abnormally increased. The gradual increase of the, inner pressure can be effected by selecting suitable cathode active material.

Why it's free to use
- Filed October 17, 1989 and granted December 14, 1999. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended October 17, 2009.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 17, 2011.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
