Abstract From the Canadian patent

An automatic lock slider for slide fastener comprises a slider body, a support lug integral with and disposed over the top surface of the slider body and a pull tab with which to move the slider. The slider includes a locking member in the form of a polygonal leaf spring having at one end a locking prong and at the other end a U-bent portion. A bulged portion is formed intermediate the prong and the U-bent portion and spaced a sufficient distance from the lower surface of the lug to permit lifting of the prong clear out of the passage of coupling element rows of a slide fastener.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed October 17, 1989 and granted August 25, 1998. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended October 17, 2009.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 17, 2011.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
