Abstract From the Canadian patent
A lock for a firearm with a revolving bullet-receiving cylinder is inserted into one of the chambers of the cylinder when the cylinder is in an open position. The lock comprises a body insertable through the chamber and then expandable by turning a key in order to prevent withdrawal of the body. While the body remains within the cylinder, the cylinder cannot be closed and the firearm cannot be discharged.

Why it's free to use
- Filed October 11, 1989. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended October 11, 2009.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 11, 2011.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
