1,2-Dihydro-3H-pyrrolo1,2-apyrrole-, 1,7-dicarboxylates of the formula (see fig. I), in which, each R is independently H or lower alkyl are prepared from di(lower alkyl) 1,3-acetonedicarboxylates and are useful as intermediates in the preparation of pharmaceuticals.
