Abstract From the Canadian patent

Preparation process for a catalytic component for polymerising olefins including at least partial electrochemical oxidation of the aluminum in an .alpha..omega.-dihaloalkane type halogenated solvent and simultaneous electrochemical reduction of a titanium (IV) compound. It may moreover be implemented in the presence of an inert solvent and/or at least one .alpha.-olefin with 4 to 16 carbon atoms. A vanadium (IV) or vanadium (V) compound as well as at least one magnesium halide may also be added to the reaction medium.
