Abstract From the Canadian patent

A process for preparing anionic surfactants is disclosed; and, more specifically, surfactants which exhibit excellent sequestering efficacy for metal ions. These surfactants are prepared by the addition reaction of maleic or fumaric acid with a poly(ethoxylated) alcohol which is a relatively fast reaction as compared to certain of the analogous reactions using poly(ethoxylated-propoxylated) alcohols of the prior art. The surfactants of the present invention are physically and chemically stable in aqueous alkali media.

Why it's free to use

  • Granted July 7, 1998. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended July 7, 2015.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
