Benzyl carboxylates of the formula, (see fig. I) where, R1 is alkyl, R2 is hydrogen, alkyl or alkoxy R3 is hydrogen, halogen, cyano, aryl or aryloxy the aromatic ring being, unsubstituted or substituted or R3 is heteroaryl, adamantyl, fluorenyl or cycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl the radicals being unsubstituted, or substituted X is saturated or unsaturated, substituted or unsubstituted alkylene and, n is 0 or 1, and fungicides containing these compounds.
