Abstract From the Canadian patent

A core-cladding optical fiber having a plastic cladding composed of-an amorphous copolymer having a single glass transition temperature of at least 125°C but lower than 140°C is described. The amorphous copolymer comprises (a) units derived from a fluorodioxole represented by the formula I: (see fig.I), wherein R and R' are ~luorine or trifluoromethyl, and (b) units derived from at least one monomer selected from tetrafluoroethylene, chlorotrifluoroethylene Rf - CF = CF2 (in which Rf is a primary fluoroalkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms) and Rg - OCF = CF2 (in which Rg is a primary fluoroalkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms or a primary fluoroalkyl group having 4 to 12 carbon atoms as …

Why it's free to use

  • Granted July 29, 1997. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended July 29, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
