The overbased petroleum oxidates are useful as rust inhibitors dispersants, detergents, friction modifiers and as a substrate for overbased sulfonates, phenates and salicy-, lates. The overbased sulfonates phenates and salicylates, are easily overbased and have improved storage stability and improved rust inhibition.
