Abstract From the Canadian patent

This invention relates to a method for the production of phosphoric acid by acidulation of phosphate ore and to an apparatus for carrying out the method. The process of this invention comprises forming a slurry of a phosphate ore in an aqueous phosphoric acid solution in each reaction zone of a multi-zone reaction system. The reaction zones are arranged in such a manner as to provide for the separation of the ore solids into two separate fractions. One fraction consists essentially of a slurry of coarse solids and calcium phosphate in the phosphoric acid solution, with a minor portion of fine solids.
