A unit for deciding the coloration of a test piece by comparison with reference samples including a display of a plurality of color samples arranged for comparison to specimen means for, identifying a selected color sample a first memory means for storing, values representing each of said different color samples and combination thereof, and display means for displaying a stored color sample value corresponding to a color sample or combination of color samples selected. The unit further includes a stationary mounting member having an area for mounting a specimen and a rotatable color, sample member mounted on the stationary member.
