Abstract From the Canadian patent

Light hydrocarbons e.g. methane are con-, verted to synthesis gas at elevated temperatures and pressures in the presence of a particulate catalyst e.g. Ni/Al2O3. The conversion of feed to synthesis gas is preserved by rapidly cooling the reaction production to a temperature below that which favors the back reaction of carbon monoxide and hydrogen to form methane.

Why it's free to use

  • Granted November 9, 1993. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended November 9, 2010.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
