Maleic anhydride is grafted on unsaturated elastomeric terpolymers consisting of monomeric units coming from at least two different monomers having general formula R-CH = CH2 (R = hydrogen or an alkyl group containing from 1 to 6 carbon atoms) and from a conj= ugate or non-conjugate dienic monomer by mass reaction which is carried out by heating at 120-350° C a mixture of said anhydride with the terpolymer in the presence of catalysts consisting of compounds having formula: MnXz, wherein:, M = a metal of group VIII of the periodic system in, particular Rh and Ru;, X = a counterion n = valence of the counterion, Z = valence of the metal.

Why it's free to use
- Granted November 2, 1993. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended November 2, 2010.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
