An electrical wire comprises an elongate electrical conductor and electrical insulation comprising: (a) a layer of a crosslinked blend of an aromatic polymer and a polymer containing aliphatic moieties; and, (b) a tracking control layer located on top of and/or, beneath layer (a). The aromatic/aliphatic polymer layer may for, example, comprise a polyaryletherimide or polysulphone blended with an aliphatic or aliphatic/aromatic polyamide e.g. nylon 12. The tracking control layer may be inorganic e.g. silica, or organic e.g. a fluoropolymer. The wire insulation combines good electrical and mechanical properties with high resistance to wet or dry tracking.
