Case 2993, IMPROVED BATTERY POWER SUPPLY ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE, The present invention relates to battery packs for use in portable radio products where the battery packs include a standardized number of battery cells. The improvement comprises using 12 mercury battery cells arranged in three branches. The first two branches each comprise 5 series connected cells where the two branches are connected in parallel. A third branch is provided comprising two series connected cells with the third branch connected in series with the parallel connection of the first and second branches.
