Abstract From the Canadian patent

A novel atmospheric pressure capactively coupled radio frequency plasma discharge method and apparatus are disclosed. The apparatus is suitable for atomic absorption and emission analysis of small discrete sample volumes (1-50µl). The plasma can be operated at very low Radio Frequency (RF) input powers (30- 600 W) which allows for optimal conditions for atom resonance line absorption measurements. Sample introduction into the plasma is by an electrically heated tantalum strip vaporizer. The vaporization and dissociation-atomization steps are separately controlled. Analyte absorption takes place in the plasma discharge which is characterized by a long pathlength (10-50 cm) and low support …

Why it's free to use

  • Granted March 16, 1993. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended March 16, 2010.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
