A b s t r a c t A method of manufacturing filters by laser treatment, wherein working is done by a laser beam and a jet of working gas. An absorbing coating is applied to a surface to be worked. The laser beam is focused to form a focal spot within a workpiece at a depth h1 from its surface with, where h is the thickness of the workpiece. Abrasive particles are introduced in a pulsed periodic manner into said jet of working gas at the instant the variation amplitude of the volume of molten metal in a cutting cavity reaches a maximum value.
