Abstract From the Canadian patent

A single-use, self-aning syringe is disclosed that is rendered inoperative after a single use without requiring any deliberate action on the part of a user. The injection device uses a hydrophilic expansion plug positioned in the outlet flow channel of the syringe, which expands a short time after being exposed to a drug containing water, thereby rendering the syringe inoperative.

Why it's free to use

  • Granted January 5, 1993. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended January 5, 2010.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
