A brake for a rotatable shaft is disclosed. The shaft has an end extending outside of a housing. The end is adapted to carry a disk generally perpendicular to the shaft. The housing has a mounting surface facing the disk. A base is securely affixed to the mounting surface of the housing and two support members are secured to the base and extend from the base past the disk generally parallel to the shaft. An inner pressure pad is positioned on the support members adjacent to the base interposed in between the base and the disk and generally parallel to the disk.
