A method and device for the evaluation of signals from an incremental pulse generator. The incremental pulse generator generates at least two phase-displaced angularspeed signals with the angular-speed signals being counted. The angular-speed signals are counted only if there is an allowable combination of the angular-speed signals. This method and device has particular application with respect to printing presses.
