The device for effecting the adjustment of the orientation of a steering wheel on a shaft which are joined, together by fastening means comprises a sleeve interposed, between the end of the shaft and the hub of the steering wheel. The sleeve and the shaft define between them an annular chamber in which is housed a friction member opposing their spontaneous relative rotation. The fine adjustment, limited to a value of about 9° is made with the, aid of an arrangement which comprises a control mechanism amplitude limiters, and stops.
