Abstract From the Canadian patent

A novel process for removing the sulphur contained in a gaseous compound by absorbtion from at least part of the waste gas of a reduction shaft furnace (1) for iron ore is described. The waste gas is initially cleaned in a scrubber (13) and cooled followed, by desulphurlzation, during which the sulphur-absorbIng material is constituted by part of the sponge iron produced in the reduction shaft furnace. Desulphurization advantageously takes place at a temperature in the range 30 to 60°C. It is preferably carried out on the CO2 separated from the blast furnace gas and the blast furnace gas part used as export gas.

Why it's free to use

  • Granted September 29, 1992. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended September 29, 2009.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
