Abstract From the Canadian patent

Abstract, A link for a chain has a first planar portion and a second portion integral with and disposed adjacent the first portion, the second portion being folded over to form a bight having a pair of parallel, laterally-spaced opposed walls defining a space therebetween and adapted to receive a first portion of an adjacent link.
