Abstract of the Disclosure Disclosed is an electrochemical cell that includes an anode, a cathode, and an electrolyte the, cathode containing more than a trace amount of a sulfur impurity capable of causing the cell to self-discharge and also containing a scavenger that reacts with the impurity to reduce the rate of self-discharge of the cell.
