Abstract From the Canadian patent

In a repeater arrangement supplied with a sequence of input multiplexed signals to produce a sequence of output multiplexed signals with stuff, signals included in each of the input and the output multiplexed signals, the input multiplexed signals are demultiplexed by demultiplexer into a plurality of demultiplexed signals assigned to channels and are stored in first-in-first-out (FIFO) memories with the stuff signals destuffed. Stuff information related -to the destuffed signals is memorized in a stuff memory to be sent to a multiplexer.
