Open the CIPO recordAbstract From the Canadian patent
A process for the polymerization of ethylene comprises bringing ethylene or ethylene and at least one a-olefin in contact with a catalyst comprising a metallocene compound of a transition metal selected from Groups IVB, VB and VIB, an aluminoxane and a silicon compound having an Si-O-C bond for polymerization. The use of the silicon compound having an Si-O-C bond in the catalysis by a combination of a metallocene compound and an aluminoxane results in the production of ethylene polymers having a lower melt flow rate (MFR) than those produced similarly except for the silicon compound not being used.

Why it's free to use
- Granted July 7, 1992. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended July 7, 2009.
