Abstract From the Canadian patent

Processes and compositions are provided for accomplishing fluid therapy using the anions 1-lactate pyruvate, d-betahydroxybutyrate, acetoacetate or mixtures, of such. The racemic d,1-lactate or acetate anion mixtures heretofore used in fluids are now known not to be desirable because they cause adverse and toxic effects when administered to mammals.
