Abstract of the Invention An automatic braking apparatus for inclusion with a user-propelled grocery cart luggage, cart or the like is provided which automatically brakes at least one of the cart wheels when not in use and which allows easy, convenient, and automatic release of the braking mechanism by the user during operation.
