Abstract From the Canadian patent

A right angle connector assembly (20) having contact receiving passages (36) therein has a solder post spacer plate (46) having a plurality of parallel channels (106) laterally aligned with the contact receiving passages (36). As the mating portion of a contact (38) is inserted into a respective contact receiving passage (36) the, mounting portion of the contact (42) typically a solder, post (44), is inserted into a laterally aligned channel (106) in the spacer plate (46).
