Abstract From the Canadian patent

PHA 21.275 -22- 20-2-1986, ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE. Ignition circuit for high pressure arc discharge lamps. Apparatus for igniting and operating a high pressure arc discharge lamp includes a pulse generating circuit for generating high voltage pulses for starting the lamp. The pulse generating circuit is comprised of a step-up transformer, a start capacitor a voltage sen-, sitive bidirectional switch (e.g. a sidac) and an impedance which forms a charge circuit for the capacitor. The capacitor discharges via the switch and a part of the transformer to generate a high voltage pulse which is coupled to the lamp electrodes. An auxiliary capacitor and a serially connected inductor are coupled …

Why it's free to use

  • Granted May 5, 1992. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended May 5, 2009.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
