Abstract From the Canadian patent

Novel N-acetyl derivatives designated N-acetylesperamicins A1, A2 and A1b are prepared by acetylating known antitumor antibiotics. The new derivatives exhibit both antimicrobial and antitumor activity and have the structures, wherein R1 and R2 are hydrogen or and R3 is -CH(CH3)2 or CH2CH3.
